Golden Eagles Drop Both Matches on Second Day of Dalton Overstreet Invite

Prescott, AZ – Laramie County Community College fell to Eastern Arizona College and #7 Snow College 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in Prescott, Arizona in the second day of the Dalton Overstreet Invitational. LCCC fought tough against Eastern Arizona falling 25-19, 28-26, 29-27 and gave #7 Snow a push falling 25-21, 25-21, 33-31.

The Golden Eagles drop to 1-7 overall on the year. In the first match, LCCC was led by Cassidy Nelson (South Jordan, Utah) hitting .444 and knocking down 15 kills in the three sets. Laramie County converted 39 kills in the three sets hitting .225. Eastern Arizona had 50 kills and a .343 hitting percentage in the match.

Nelson also recorded three service aces in the match. McKayla Earl (Rawlins, Wyoming) led the team in digs with 16. Gwen Sheldon (Loveland, Colorado) had 18 assists and Shelby Veenstra (Twin Falls, Idaho) had 14.

In the second match, LCCC was led by Nelson who racked up 16 kills in the match and added eight digs and an ace. Cameron Callahan (Parker, Colorado) added seven kills and Kalme Moncavo (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Kyla Childers (Parker, Colorado) chipped in six kills. Sheldon handed out 23 assists and added five digs. Earl picked up 18 digs to lead the defense.

Laramie County will take on the Cougars of Western Nebraska Community College on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the RAC.
