LCCC’s Meltzer & Sturges Sign with Four-Year Programs

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Laramie County Community College's Kyle Meltzer and Kasandra Sturges signed National Letters of Intent with NCAA Division II programs on Monday.

Meltzer, the 5'2 libero from Fort Collins, Colorado signed with CSU-Pueblo in Colorado Springs, Colorado under the direction of former Golden Eagle Head Coach Austin Albers.

Meltzer was named to the Second-Team All-Conference Team and the All-Region Tournament Team this past season. She played in all 41 matches for the Golden Eagles this past season, recorded a team-high 540 digs, and was second on the team in service aces with 49.

Sturges, the 5'10 setter from Parker, Colorado signed with UNC-Pembroke in Pembroke, North Carolina. She was named to the Region IX North First Team and was the All-Region North Setter of the Year. Sturges played in all 41 matches this season and led the team in assists with 1,003 on the year averaging 6.73 assists per set. She also notched 266 digs.

Both Meltzer and Sturges helped the Golden Eagles to a 32-9 record and reach the NJCAA National Tournament in back to back seasons. They captured the Region IX Championship in 2017 and the Region IX North regular season title in 2017 and 2018.

The Thunderwolves of CSU-Pueblo compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and the Braves of UNC-Pembroke compete in the Peach Belt Conference.
