Austin Albers Named Head Coach at CSU-Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colorado – Laramie County Community College Volleyball Head Coach, Austin Albers, has been named the new head coach at CSU-Pueblo announced by Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Paul Plinske on Tuesday. He will start his new position on January 1st.

"I'm really excited for the opportunity to take on the next challenge as the head women's volleyball coach at CSU-Pueblo. It's a great opportunity and fit for me and my family," said Coach Albers. "My time here at LCCC has been extremely special and close to my heart. The players, coaches and people on campus have made these last five years unforgettable and I owe a lot to all of them."  

Coach Albers posted a record 145 wins and 57 losses over the five year at Laramie County as the head coach. He led his teams to two back-to-back NJCAA National Tournament appearances in 2017 and 2018, finishing 10th and 9th. He also captured back-to-back Regular Season Region IX North titles and won the Region IX North Tournament in 2017. They were District C Champions in 2018. He was named Region IX North Coach of the Year in 2017 and 2018 and was also recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association with a 30 Under 30 award in 2016 as among the top 30 up and coming coaches in the country.

Albers turned the program around in each of his five years posting 25 plus victories in each of his five seasons. Prior to joining the Golden Eagles, the team had finished 14-25 and in the last two years he got the squad to over 30 wins.

Over his time at LCCC, he produced a number of All-Region players with a couple of Region IX North Players of the Year, Setters of the Year and Libero of the Year. He also had three All-Americans during his time at LCCC. His team was also successful in the classroom earning the NJCAA Academic Team Award for a 3.00 team GPA in three of his five years.

CSU-Pueblo is an NCAA DII program and compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
