Avery Nelson Named to NJCAA & AVCA All-America Team

CHEYENNE – Laramie County Community College volleyball player Avery Nelson was named to the NJCAA All-America First Team. The Colorado Springs native was an All-American last year as well. She also was named to the AVCA All-America Second Team.

As a sophomore, she was the Golden Eagles leader in kills with 562 on the season. Her 562 kills were second best in the country. Nelson ranked 11th in the country in kills per set with 3.77. She holds the LCCC record for most kills in the history of the program at 1,034. She helped the Golden Eagles finish 32-9 on the year, winning the Region IX North title and reaching the NJCAA National Tournament for the second time where they finished ninth.

Avery was named the Region IX North Player of the Year and made the All-Region IX team, All-Region Tournament team and WCCAC All-Conference team.

Nelson has signed a National Letter of Intent with NCAA DI Long Beach State University. The 49ers finished 16-13 this past season and compete in the Big West Conference.
