Golden Eagles 15-Game Win Streak Snapped

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – The 18th ranked Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles looked to continue their success but suffered their first loss in 15 matches falling to Northeastern Junior College 3-2 (27-25, 25-15, 24-26, 20-25, 11-15) Thursday night in Cheyenne at Storey Gymnasium. This match was for a spot in the Championship game on Friday. The Golden Eagles will still have an opportunity to play for a spot at the NJCAA National Tournament.

Kylie Martin (Gypsum, Colorado) led the Golden Eagles (26-8 overall) with 15 kills and four aces. Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) posted 12 kills, three digs and an ace. Payton Stack (Casper, Wyoming) had 11 kills and Elizabeth Clark (Sandy, Utah) posted 10 kills, while Kyle Meltzer (Fort Collins, Colorado) collected a team-high 23 digs. Kasandra Sturges (Parker, Colorado) tallied 31 assists and 10 digs.

LCCC is not eliminated and will look to bounce back tomorrow as they play McCook Community College at 12 p.m. at Storey Gym.
