LCCC Volleyball Take 3-0 Decision Against Northwest

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – The Laramie County Community College volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-20) Region IX North contest against Northwest College, Friday evening, in Cheyenne, Wyo.

LCCC improves to 24-7 overall on the season and 11-0 in Region IX North play.

"This was a good win for us here at home to start the weekend," said head coach Austin Albers. "It certainly was not our best effort and we're going to need to be better on first contact and with our setting decisions tomorrow if we want to play our best volleyball."

Sophomore Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) paced the Golden Eagles' offense with 14 kills. Sophomore Kylie Martin (Gypsum, Colorado) recorded 10 kills on the night, while sophomore Elizabeth Clark (Sandy, Utah) added seven kills. Sophomore setter Kasandra Sturges (Parker, Colorado) dished out 20 set assists.

On the defensive side of the ball, sophomores Martin and Kyle Meltzer (Fort Collins, Colorado) led with 12 digs, while Jessica Benedict (Wright, Wyoming) recorded three blocks on the night.

The Golden Eagles return home to take on Sheridan College on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. for sophomore day.
