Volleyball Moves to 7-0 in Region IX North After Win Over Central Wyoming

CHEYENNE, WYOMING – Laramie County Community College Volleyball was at home for the second game of a four-game home stand and hosted Central Wyoming College on Friday evening. The Golden Eagles defeated the Central Wyoming College Rustlers in four sets: 25-14, 25-20, 23-25 and 25-9.

Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) led the way with 11 kills, two service aces and a block. Payton Stack (Casper, Wyoming) also recorded double-digit kills with 10. Graycn Voggesser (Fort Collins, Colorado) and Jazzy Espinoza (Cheyenne, Wyoming) each had six kills. Stack and Espinoza each recorded two blocks. Kasandra Sturges (Parker, Colorado) dished out 22 assists and freshman teammate Gwen Sheldon (Loveland, Colorado) added 15. Libero Kyle Meltzer (Fort Collins, Colorado) had 13 digs, four assists and three service aces.

"We did some really good things tonight and we did some not so good things," stated head coach Austin Albers. "Our effort and attention to detail was inconsistent and so the result was as well. With this group, we have to a way to push and compete with ourselves on a nightly basis."

The Golden Eagles will host Western Wyoming Community College on Saturday at 3:00 PM.
