LCCC Volleyball Defeat Sheridan 3-1

Sheridan, Wy. – The Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles visited Sheridan Saturday afternoon taking on Sheridan College in a battle for the top of the Region IX North standings. The Golden Eagles won in four sets, making their record 17-7 overall and 6-0 in Region IX North.

LCCC started strong, taking the first and second set by a score 25-14 and 25-19. However, the Generals would come back take a long third set 31-29. The Golden Eagles took the match in the fourth set by a score of 25-17. Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) was the leader in the kills column for the Golden Eagles with a career-high 20 kills. Gracyn Voggesser (Fort Collins, Colorado) added 14 kills while Kylie Martin (Gypsum, Colorado) had 11. Martin also finished with 22 digs Payton Stack (Casper, Wyoming) and Elizabeth Clark (Sandy, Utah) each finished with 10 kills. Kasandra Sturges (Parker, Colorado) collected 27 assists on the night and Gwen Sheldon (Loveland, Colorado) added 21 assists.

"This was a great finish to our longest bus trip of the year," said head coach Austin Albers. "I thought our team played well and Sheridan did a good job of forcing us to be sharp on our side. For us, it was about staying aggressive and winning the first contact battle which is always a task on the road. We're happy to finish with a win and get into a long overdue stretch of home matches back in Cheyenne."

The Golden Eagles return home Tuesday, October 9th at 6 p.m. taking on McCook Community College.
