Golden Eagles Sweep Central Wyoming in Region IX North Match

RIVERTON, Wyoming – The Laramie County Community College volleyball picked up a win over Central Wyoming College in straight sets (25-15, 25-16, 25-19) Friday evening at Rustler Gym in Riverton, Wyoming.

The Golden Eagles improve to 14-7 overall and 3-0 in Region IX North play, while Central Wyoming fell to 2-13 on the season.

Sophomore outside hitter Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) had a team-high 12 kills with a .450 hitting percentage. Sophomore Payton Stack (Casper, Wyoming) added eight kills and a team-best five blocks. Setter Gwen Sheldon (Loveland, Colorado) led the Golden Eagles with 16 assists and five aces. Kyle Meltzer (Fort Collins, Colorado) recorded 10 digs and Kyle Martin (Gypsum, Colorado) recorded five digs for Laramie County.

"This was a nice team win for us," said Coach Albers. "We were really solid offensively tonight and outside of some early service errors we did a good job of initiating offense from the serve line. We need to clean up a few things going into tomorrow with a tough match at Western."
