Volleyball Splits on First Day of Lee College Classic

BAYTOWN, Tex. – The Laramie County Community College volleyball team continued to face top teams in the country. The Golden Eagles split after two matches on Friday in the first day of the Lee College Classic to move to 5-4 on the year. The #15 navy and gold fell to #18 Polk State College in four sets before their sweep of Wharton County Junior College.

In the first match of the day vs Polk State College, Laramie County was led by Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) with 18 kills, Elizabeth Clark (Sandy, Utah) with three serving aces, Kasandra Sturges (Parker, Colorado) had 40 assists and Alessia Venturelli (Modena, Italy) had 19 digs. The Golden Eagles hit .210 against Polk State's .243.

In the second match Clark led the Golden Eagles with eight kills, while Sturges has 24 assists. Venturelli had 17 digs on the defensive side.
