Golden Eagles Top Trinidad State in Opener

CHEYENNE, WY – Laramie County Community College posted a 3-0 victory over Region IX South foe Trinidad State Junior College in the regular season opening contest on Wednesday afternoon. The #12 Golden Eagles have started the season 1-0.

The Golden Eagles captured a dominating first set 25-9 and carried the momentum in the second frame, winning the set 25-11. Laramie County would win the third set 25-13 and complete the sweep.

Offensively, Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) posted a team-high 11 kills, while Payton Stack (Casper, Wyoming) added seven kills on a .417 hitting mark. Elizabeth Clark (Sandy, Utah) had six kills.

Renae Davis (Pleasant View, Utah) dished out 14 assists and Kasandra Sturges (Parker, Colorado) added 13. On defense, McKayla Earl notched a team-best 10 digs.

Laramie County will head to the Reiver Classic in Coucil Bluffs, Iowa this weekend where they will play Barton County Community College (KS), Jefferson College (MO), Indian Hills Community College (IA) and #3 Iowa Western Community College.
