LCCC Volleyball Finishes 10th at National Tournament

HUTCHINSON – Avery Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colorado) had a team-high 14 kills as the #11 seed Laramie County Community College volleyball team fell to #8 seed Panola College, 18-25, 19-25, 21-25 on Saturday in the 9th place match at the NJCAA National Tournament.

The Golden Eagles got to the 9th place game by defeating #10 seed St. Petersburg College the night before. LCCC finished the year 34-8 overall and finished 10th at the National Tournament.

Nelson's hit .333 in the match and only committed four errors on 30 attacks. Freshman Kylie Martin (Gypsum, Colorado) had nine kills and Carlee Morrison (Gypsum, Colorado) added seven kills. The Golden Eagles hit .172 in the match.

Sophomore setter Kyra Brandt (Amsterdam, Netherlands) finished with 26 assists, while Nelson and Jessica Benedict (Wright, Wyoming) led LCCC with a block apiece.

Jaqueline da Silva led Panola with 16 kills. The Fillies finished with a .382 hitting percentage. Hannah Ramirez had 11 digs for Panola.
