CHEYENNE – The Laramie County Community College women's volleyball team had four players take home a gang of awards for their efforts during the 2017 season at the Region IX North Tournament last weekend. Sophomores Carlee Morrison and Kyra Brandt were joined by freshmen Avery Nelson and Kylie Martin who were all recognized as members of the All-Region IX North Team, WCCAC All-Conference Team and the Region IX North All-Tournament Team. In addition, it was head coach Austin Albers who garnered the 2017 Coach of the Year Award in Region IX North after the team's 32-6 record and 17-1 conference mark.
Morrison took home the top individual honor of Region IX North Player of the Year and was also named the WCCAC Player of the Year after finishing as the Runner-Up for Freshman of the Year in 2016. Right on her heals in the rankings was freshman Avery Nelson who was this year's Runner-Up for Player of the Year but the sole owner of the Region IX North Freshman of the Year Award. It was sophomore Kyra Brandt who finished third in the overall voting to bring home the Setter of the Year honor, making her the second player to earn that award for LCCC in the last four seasons.
