Montoya Joins Volleyball Program

Cheyenne, Wyo. – The Laramie County Community College Volleyball team added another solid piece to their puzzle as they welcomed Sydney Montoya to the Golden Eagle family. Montoya is a Cheyenne product who is eager to stay in the area.

"I'm excited and think that it's awesome that I'll be able to stay in Cheyenne," said Montoya. "Coach Albers has a similar style to what I'm used to and the fact that I felt comfortable made my decision easier," said Sydney.

Montoya won was a 3x Volleyball State Champ and was named 3x Wyoming 4A Defensive Player of the Year. On top of that she earned a spot on the All-State three years, All-Conference team all four years. She was a 2015 nominee for Wyoming Gatorade Player of the Year. She set records for digs in a season with 403 and in her career with 1466.

"Sydney has the ability to challenge on the floor and brings a winning pedigree to our program," said head coach Austin Albers. "You can put her in any situation and she will find a way to claw out," stated Albers.
