Nate Ulness Named Women’s Soccer Head Coach

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Director of Athletics Dr. Cindy Henning announced Friday the hiring of Nate Ulness as the new women's soccer head coach. He becomes the second head coach in Laramie County Community College Women's Soccer history. He takes over for Coach Gardner, who retired after coaching the Golden Eagles for 18 seasons.

Ulness comes to LCCC after serving three seasons as the head coach at Gillette College. He guided the 2019 Lady Pronghorns to the NJCAA National Tournament and captured the 2019 Region IX Tournament Championship.

"We are very excited to have Nate as a part of our Golden Eagle Athletics program," said Dr. Henning. "He has demonstrated a drive and desire to continue and build upon the academic and athletic excellence established by our women's soccer program. His philosophy and goals align with our colleges' mission, vision, values and our athletic department strategic plan."

Ulness started the program at Gillette College and led the Pronghorns to a 31-17-3 overall record in three seasons. Gillette finished the 2019 campaign as the most successful team in their program history. The Pronghorns posted an impressive 17-3-1 record and a NJCAA National Tournament appearance.

"I am very excited to be coming into such an exceptional program and continue to build on the successes that have been established and be part of a winning tradition that is Golden Eagle Soccer," said Ulness.

He produced two NJCAA All-Americans, Region IX Freshman of the Year and the Region IX Player of the Year.

Prior to his three-year stint at Gillette, Ulness was an assistant women's coach at the University of Mary.

Ulness, a North Dakota native will begin on the 3rd of January and arrive on campus for the start of the second semester.
