Golden Eagles Defeat Gillette College 4-1

Cheyenne, WY – The Laramie County Community College women's soccer team battled the Pronghorns of Gillette College and recorded a 4-1 victory. With the 4-1 win, the Golden Eagles move to 5-0-1 on the year and 2-0 in Region IX play.

The Golden Eagles started off strong in the match, as they fired away at the Gillette net. Darby Whiteley (Bungendore, Australia) led the way with four shots in the game. Beyonce Robinson (Ontario, Canada) was the first to get the Laramie County on the board in the 20th minute when she finished a 1v1 breakaway. Faith Meredith (Cheyenne, Wyoming) was credited with the assist. Gillette would equalize in the 29th minute as Emma Jarvis capitalized on a bad giveaway. LCCC would regain the lead in the 42nd minute on a 20-yard strike from Lauren Amerena (West Sussex, England).

The second had the Golden Eagles in the attack more and got their third in the 59th minute when Robinson scored on a follow up from Whiteley. Cristina Andres Morey would get the fourth goal in the 85th minute on a cross from Meredith. Larissa Sitzler (Hamburg, Germany) started in goal and played 30 minutes before being replaced by Jill Turner (Peyton, Colorado). Turner finished the match with four saves.

The Golden Eagles had the edge on corner kicks 6-3 and shots 15-8.

The Golden Eagles will hit the road on Friday, September 20th as they take on Northwest College at 1 p.m.
