Three Second Half Goals Propel #10 LCCC over #3 Iowa Western

Wichita, KS – A strong Golden Eagles second half offense proved to be too much for the Reivers as #10 Laramie County Community College scored three second half goals to storm back with a 3-1 victory on Sunday afternoon against Iowa Western Community College.

Estefania Cardona scored the first goal of the match in the 9th minute on a nice team play by the Reivers. IWCC would take a 1-0 lead into the half.

Lauren Amerena (West Sussex, England) scored the first goal for the Golden Eagles in the 63rd minute on a nice strike. Taylor Meyrick (Cheyenne, Wyoming) was credited with setting the goal up for Amerena. The Golden Eagles followed up with back-to-back corners and a pair of shots by Amerena that both were just shy of the mark.

Laramie County continued to apply the pressure and broke the tie in the 76th minute off the foot Beyonce Robinson (Ontario, Canada) who was set up with a pass from Faith Meredith (Cheyenne, Wyoming). Robinson scored the insurance tally to take a 3-1 lead in the 82nd minute on a pass from Abree Hill (Casper, Wyoming).

Laramie County was limited to just two shots in the first half but came alive in the second half with eight shots. IWCC outshot the Golden Eagles 15-11 throughout the contest. Larissa Sitzler (Hamburg, Germany) finished the afternoon with three saves.

The Golden Eagles were scheduled to be in Florida next weekend for matches but those have been cancelled due to hurricane Dorian.
