Seven Game Winning Streak Snapped as Women’s Soccer Falls to Gillette

Gillette, Wyo. – The Laramie County Community College women's soccer team had a seven game winning streak and had shutout their previous six opponents prior to their matchup against Gillette College. That streak was snapped as the Golden Eagles fell 3-1 in Gillette Tuesday afternoon.

The loss drops LCCC to 9-5 overall and 7-1 in Region IX North play. The Golden Eagles only allowed a total of eight shots but Gillette managed to put six on frame. Gillette got on the board first in the 44th minute on a goal by Irie Elliott on an assist by Maraia Rubin. Rubin for the second would find a teammate in Kylie Hatzenbihler for the second goal in the 61st minute. Hatzenbihler added a third in the 80th minute.

Annie Rolf (West Sussex, England) added her fourth goal of the year on a free kick in the 83rd minute. Ellie Bowman (Essex, England) stopped three shots, with all three coming in the second half.

The Golden Eagles will host Northeastern Junior College in a Region IX quarterfinal matchup on Saturday. The match is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
