CHEYENNE, Wyoming – The #18 Laramie County Community College women's soccer team hosted Western Wyoming Community College for their Region IX North opener of the 2018 season with a 3-1 win.
The Golden Eagles found many opportunities in front of the net offensively against WWCC and broke through in the 25th minute when Faith Meredith (Cheyenne, Wyoming) knocked in a cross from Annie Rolf (West Sussex, England). LCCC took a 1-0 lead into the half. Maylee Thompson knotted things up at 1-1 in the 53rd minute. The Golden Eagles regained the lead in the 66th minute when Meredith picked up a loose ball and buried her shot. Christina De Andres (Balers, Spain) netted the third in the 75th minute. Goalkeeper Ellie Bowman (Essex, England) showed her skills defensively for the Golden Eagles with a total of five saves.
LCCC had many shot opportunities which totaled to 20 shots and 13 shots on goal. WWCC had seven shots and five on goal. The Golden Eagles also had the advantage in corner kicks at 12-2. LCCC is now 3-4 on the year and 1-0 in Region IX North play.
The Golden Eagles return to the field Saturday, Sept. 15th, to take on Northwest College in Powell at 11 a.m.
