LCCC Women’s Soccer Headed to National Tournament

Cheyenne, WY – The Laramie County Community College women's soccer team defeated Snow College, 2-1, on Saturday in the District C Championship game.

Laramie County improves their overall record to 16-1 on the year. The Golden Eagles are now headed to the NJCAA National Tournament.

LCCC finished the contest with a 12-9 edge in shots and Snow had the advantage in corner kicks 7-5.

Nicole Jenkins got Snow on the board first with shot from about 26 yards out in the 31st minute to put Snow ahead 1-0. The Badgers would go into the half with the 1-0 lead.

In the second half, the Golden Eagles would have the wind at their back and began to be more dangerous in the attack. The Golden Eagles scored twice in the half with own goal from Snow in the 82nd minute to equalize and then Annie Rolf (West Sussex, England) got the game-winner in the 85th minute on a cross from Nikita Woods (Corrimal, Australia).

Kelly Morine (Denver, Colorado) finished with seven saves while Hannah Johnson made eight for the Badgers.

LCCC will find out what seed they will be in the tournament in the next couple of days.
