Six Goals for Golden Eagles in Win

CHEYENNE – The Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles scored their goals early and proved why they are the #2 team in the country as they defeated Gillette College Pronghorns by the score of 6-0 on Wednesday afternoon at East High School.

The Golden Eagles outshot Gillette 31-5 and held a 19-3 lead in shots on goal.

The Golden Eagles were the aggressor in the first half, scoring in the 4th minute of the game. Katie Loken (Cheyenne, Wyoming) got them on the board on a pass from Taylor Stoeger (Green River, Wyoming).  Stoeger made it 2-0 in the 9th minute on a pass from Elise Atkins (Haxtun, Colorado). LCCC would tack on three more before the half. Nikita Woods (Corrimal, Australia), Noemi Amaro (Gering, Nebraska) and Abby Morillon (Cheyenne, Wyoming) were credited with the goals. Stoeger, Natalie de Marco (Canberra, Australia) and Simone Marcus (Flager, Colorado) got the assists.

In the second half, Morillon would add another to increase the lead to 6-0. Stoeger finished the match with three assists. Ellie Bowman (Essex, England) started in goal for the Golden Eagles and played the first half. Kelly Morine (Denver, Colorado) played the second half and recorded three saves.

LCCC improves to 11-1 overall and 7-0 in Region IX play. They finished Region IX regular season play on Saturday as they travel to Sheridan College for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
