Women’s Soccer Wins 8-1 at Western Wyoming

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyoming – The Laramie County Community College women's soccer team won its 2017 Region IX opener, as LCCC punched in eight goals to win the match 8-1. LCCC is now 5-1 this season and 1-0 in Region IX play with the win.

It didn't take long for the Golden Eagles to get going early, taking a ton of shots and creating a number of opportunities. Nikita Woods got things going in the 13th minute as she converted on a pass from Annie Rolf. Taylor Stoeger doubled the lead in the 24th minute on an assist from Katie Loken. A minute later Stoeger found Abby Morrillon to make it 3-0. Jazmine Moyte made it 4-0 in the 38th minute on another assist from Stoeger. Maria da Silveira found Rolf for the fifth goal as the Golden Eagles would take a 5-0 into halftime. The Golden Eagles held a 13-2 shot advantage in the opening half.

Western Wyoming would get on the board in the 47th minute as Kenzie Lucas found the net. LCCC would respond with three more goals. Elise Atkins got the sixth, Woods got the seventh and da Silveira netted the eighth. Woods, Rolf and Stoeger were credited with the assists.

LCCC finished the game with 22 shots in the game. Kelly Morine made four saves and Ellie Bowman made two saves for the Golden Eagles.

Laramie County will be back at home on Saturday as they host Northwest College at 4 p.m.
