Women’s Soccer End Season with 2-1 Loss to Tyler

MELBOURNE, FL – Carlota Suarez scored a pair of goals in the first five minutes of the match as it was enough for Tyler Junior College to give them a 2-1 victory over the Laramie County Community College women's soccer team on Friday evening. This was an NJCAA D1 semi-final.

Suarez got her team on the board 11 seconds into the match on a giveaway from the Golden Eagles back line. The Apaches applied the pressure a minute later and nearly added another as the shot struck the post in the 2nd minute. Suarez doubled the lead in the 5th minute on a near post shot that beat the goalkeeper.  Aubrey Gessner cut that lead in half in the 34th minute as she received a pass from Sarah Erickson and cut around the defender and had her shot graze the underside of the crossbar and into the net.

The Golden Eagles created some opportunities in the second half but were unable to find an equalizer.

Laramie County finishes the 2016 season with a 19-2-3 overall record. Jess Urquhart made six saves in the match. Christina Hendershot had five stops for the Apaches. Laramie County finished with an edge in shots 15-11 with Tyler holding the edge in corner kicks 6-3.
