Brian Ortmeier enters his fourth season at Laramie County Community College as Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball program. Ortmeier led the Golden Eagles to a 19-12 record during the 2018-19 season and a 2nd place tie in the Region 9 North Sub-Region (9-5).

Ortmeier, a native of Dodge, Nebraska, came to LCCC after working as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Colorado Northwestern Community College for two seasons.

Before taking over the reins at CNCC, Ortmeier served as an assistant coach at Dakota State University. During his year with DSU, Ortmeier helped the Dakota State women’s basketball varsity team double their win total from the previous season (from 6 to 12). He was also responsible for serving as the Head Coach of the Junior Varsity program at DSU that went 11-2 (8-0 vs NAIA competition).

Ortmeier also spent three seasons as the Assistant Varsity and Head JV Coach at McPherson College, Kansas. During his coaching stint at McPherson, Ortmeier amassed a record of 18-8 with his Junior Varsity squad against Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference and NAIA opponents. He also assisted the Bulldogs to back-to-back 14-win seasons. Six McPherson College athletes were named to the KCAC Women’s Basketball All-Conference team over his last two years, which was the most in a two-year stretch since the conference started handing out All-Conference awards.

Prior to McPherson, Ortmeier spent one season as a Graduate Assistant/Video Coordinator for the University of Richmond women’s basketball team. He oversaw the film exchange program during the Spider’s 20-win season in which they made a postseason appearance in the WNIT Tournament.

Ortmeier is a 2009 graduate of the University of Nebraska with his bachelor’s degree in political science. He continued his education at Virginia Commonwealth University where he graduated with a Master’s degree in Sport’s Leadership in May of 2010.
