Abby Garreaud’s 15 Powers Golden Eagles To 77-73 Win Over Northwest College

POWELL, Wyo. – Freshman Abby Garreaud (Magna, Utah) got off to a quick start of Tuesday's game and finished with a team-high 15 points to help highlight a 77-73 Laramie County Community College victory over the Lady Trappers Tuesday evening on the road.

Garreaud who scored 16 points in Saturday's non-conference game against Arizona Christian University, was one of four who scored in double figures to help the Golden Eagles start 1-0 in Region IX North. Her 15 points are the eighth time she scored in double figures this season for Laramie County.

Laramie County (12-5 overall, 1-0 Region IX North) extended its win streak to four consecutive games.

Sophomore Haylie Anderson (Clearfield, Utah) connected on three shots from the field, including a pair of three-pointers, and finished with 12 points. Fellow sophomore Ja'Kia Wells (Mesquite, Texas) was 9-of-12 shooting from the foul line and closed the evening with 12 points.

LCCC shot 31.5 percent (17-of-54) from the field. A strong shooting from the foul line in the fourth quarter helped closed out the game.

Garreaud was 6-of-12 from the field and made three free throws in addition to collecting nine rebounds to help highlight the victory. The Laramie County starters were a combined 12-of-35 (34.2 percent) from the field with each player scoring at least three points. Freshman Karly Mathern (Windsor, Colorado) finished with 10 points while Wells dished out four assists to go with her 12 points.

Adela Smutna finished with eight rebounds and paced three Northwest College players in double figures with 18 points.

Laramie County is back home Saturday, hosting #18 Casper College in a 2 p.m. game between a pair of teams that are 1-0 in the Region IX North.
