Golden Eagles Take Two in Arizona After Win Against ACU JV

PHOENIX – Despite a poor shooting night, Laramie County Community College was still able to come away with their second win on its trip to Arizona.

Two days after defeating Phoenix College, the Golden Eagles defeated Arizona Christian University JV 63-53 in Phoenix Saturday afternoon.

LCCC shot just over 28 percent from the floor and committed 12 turnovers, a majority of that poor shooting came in the first quarter. The deficit was 20-7 after one quarter and LCCC was able to cut it down to three at the half at 34-31.

Laramie County (11-5) got its first lead early in the second half and would outscore ACU 16-8 in the quarter with baskets from Abby Garreaud (Magna, Utah) and Saraven Allen (St. George, Utah). LCCC would outscore ACU 16-11 in the final quarter for the win.

The Golden Eagles grabbed a 39-27 edge on the boards and forced ACU to 18 turnovers in the game.

Garreaud and Allen led LCCC with 16 points each. Garreaud also pulled down seven rebounds. Ja'Kia Wells (Mesquite, Texas) scored 12 points and Anna Terron (Terragona, Spain) added nine. Kaysen Hobbs (Fort Collins, Colorado) finished with four points. Wells grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and Hobbs recorded six.
