Terron Scores 10 to lead LCCC Past Phoenix College

PHOENIX – Behind Anna Terron's (Terragona, Spain) 10 points, Laramie County Community College started its trip to Arizona with a 71-47 win at Phoenix College Thursday night.

Terron was 4-of-10 from the floor and knocked down two free throws in three attempts. She got rolling early, scoring from the floor to stake the Golden Eagles to an 18-12 lead after the first.

The lead was 42-24 at the half as the Golden Eagles were able to spread the scoring around and get baskets several different players.

Laramie County (10-5) maintained control throughout the second half with Phoenix (4-10) getting no closer than 20 points over the final two quarters.

Terron was the only Golden Eagle to score in double figures. Sam Hester (Saratoga Springs, Utah) scored nine points on 4-of-7 shooting and Ellie Schmitt (Yoder, Wyoming) dropped nine points. Saraven Allen (St. George, Utah) contributed with eight points.

The Golden Eagles shot better than 42 percent from the floor and completely shut down the Bears. Phoenix shot just 28 percent (16-of-57) for the game.

PC finished with the advantage in rebounds 41-37. Hester and Allen each grabbed six of those rebounds. Abby Garreaud (Magna, Utah) pulled down five rebounds, while Ja'Kia Wells (Mesquite, Texas) hauled in four.

Haylie Anderson (Clearfield, Utah) and Terron each recorded three assists and Terron, Hester and Garreaud added three steals in the win.

The Golden Eagles were 12-of-22 from the foul line.

LCCC will conclude the Arizona trip with a game at Arizona Christian JV Saturday afternoon.
