Women’s Basketball Falls at Colby CC 58-57

COLBY – Laramie County Community College took their third loss of the season (2-3) at Colby Community College on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles stormed back late in the fourth, but the Trojans would hold onto the lead for the win.

Colby shot 35.3 percent for the game and opened the first quarter up with a 19-14 lead. The Golden Eagles would shake off a sluggish start and hit their groove in the second quarter. A 7-0 scoring run would allow LCCC to come back and take a 31-28 halftime lead.

Colby would storm back in the third quarter and outscored the Golden Eagles 19-14 in the quarter to take a two point lead into the fourth quarter. Colby would outscore Laramie County 12-11 in the fourth quarter.

Ja'Kia Wells (Mesquite, Texas) and Haylie Anderson (Clearfield, Utah) scored in double-figures with 11 and 10 points. Wells and Sam Hester (Saratoga Springs, Utah) each had two steals. Anna Terron (Tarragona, Spain) had two assists. Abby Garreaud (Magna, Utah) led LCCC on the boards with 10 and added nine points.

LCCC forced 18 Trojan turnovers.

Alize Ruiz led Colby with 17 points and Afiya Vincent pulled down 12 rebounds.

Laramie County will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 19 with a 5 PM tip at Trinidad State Junior College.
