LCCC Women’s Basketball Fall to Otero 90-82

CHEYENNE – Otero Junior College outscored Laramie County Community College 23-19 in the fourth quarter to secure a 90-82 win on Tuesday evening. The Golden Eagles trailed by 14 at the end of the first quarter and stormed back to take the lead in the fourth quarter. Freshman Anna Terron (Tarragona, Spain) had a 15-point performance. She went 6-for-13 from the field, added three assists and four rebounds to her stat line.

Abby Garreaud (Magna, Utah) was also in double figures scoring as she had 13 points and five rebounds. Three Golden Eagles finished with 12 points in Haylie Anderson (Clearfield, Utah), Karly Mathern (Windsor, Colorado) and Kaysen Hobbs (Fort Collins, Colorado).

Otero outscored Laramie County 29-15 in the first quarter and led by as many as 16 early in the game after knocking down six three-pointers in the quarter. LCCC would close the gap down in the second quarter and outscore the Rattlers 25-16 in the quarter. At the half, Otero led 45-40.

A tight third quarter all the way through had OJC leading at the end by four. In the fourth quarter, LCCC jumped out early and took their largest lead of eight before Otero bounced back and closed the game out on a 17-6 run.

Both teams committed 13 turnovers in the game and LCCC recorded five steals on the evening.

The team will now shift their focus to Friday, Nov. 15 when they travel to Colby, Kansas for a match-up against Northwest Kansas Technical College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CT.
