LCCC Fall to Sheridan on the Road

SHERIDAN – The Laramie County Community College women's basketball team fell to Sheridan College 84-55 in its second meeting this season. The Golden Eagles fell to 15-10 overall and 6-4 in the Region IX North. The Generals improve to 6-4 in Region IX North play with an overall record of 16-10.

The Golden Eagles played and defeated the Generals on January 19th 84-71 at home.

The game started off with a few offensive miscues from the Golden Eagles, which provided the Generals with the opportunity to jump on the board early gain a double-digit lead on the Golden Eagles. The offensive dry spell from the Golden Eagles carried on throughout the first quarter. SC took the quarter 27-5.

LCCC pulled themselves out of their offensive funk and came to play in the second quarter scoring 26 points in the quarter but Sheridan also kept pace scoring 23 in the quarter. At the half, Sheridan led 50-31.

Leading the Golden Eagles offensively was Haylie Anderson (Clearfield, Utah) with 14 points followed by Gabi O'Connor (Colorado Springs, Colorado) with 13 and Karli O'Brien (Rapid City, South Dakota) with 12. O'Brien added five rebounds to lead the Golden Eagles.

Noora Parttimaa led the offense for SC with 16 points followed by Aloma Solovi with 15 and Cynthia Green and Lani Taliauli each had 11 points.

LCCC combined for 16-of-63 shooting for 25.4 percent, 7-of-28 from beyond the arc for 25 percent and 16-of-23 from the charity stripe for 69.6 percent. SC was 30-of-58 from the field for 51.7 percent, 10-of-27 from beyond the arc for 37 percent and 14-of-19 free throws for 73.7 percent.

The Golden Eagles tallied 24 rebounds, while the Generals recorded 46. Additionally, LCCC forced 20 turnovers and committed 17.

The Golden Eagles will a trip to Rock Springs to take on Region IX North opponent Western Wyoming Community College on Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m.
