O’Connor’s 23 Points Not Enough in Loss to Casper

CASPER – Laramie County Community College Women's Basketball (10-7, 1-1) couldn't shake off a slow start falling 92-70 to Casper College (13-4, 2-0) Saturday afternoon at Swede Erickson Thunderbird Gym.

Gabi O'Connor (Colorado Springs, Colorado) had her fifth game scoring over 20 points as she had 23 points in the contest. She shot 50 percent from the field hitting 9-of-18 shots against Casper College. She also contributed with four rebounds.

Casper led at the break 47-33 as LCCC kept pace the remainder of the half. The Golden Eagles were outscored 33-19 in the first quarter. The Golden Eagles strength has been keeping the opponents off the three-point line and Casper was able to knock down 16 of their 40 attempts shooting 40 percent. Casper was led by Jaye Johnson with 18 points on 6-of-9 from the field.

Two other Golden Eagles scored in double figures as guard Haylie Anderson (Clearfield, Utah) had 16 points and Karli O'Brien (Rapid City, South Dakota) finished with 15 points. Courtney Walker (Las Vegas, Nevada) pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.  

The Lady Thunderbirds owned the glass 41-30. Both teams committed 13 turnovers.
