Women’s Basketball Wins at Air Force Prep

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – Four members of the Laramie County Community College women's basketball team scored double-figures in their win over Air Force Prep. Gabi O'Connor (Colorado Springs, Colorado) finished with a team-high 17 points to help the Golden Eagles secure an 83-53 win.

The teams traded baskets for most of the first quarter with the Huskies taking a one-point advantage into the second period. A big second quarter for LCCC sparked a double-digit lead going into the half at 46-35.

LCCC capitalized on AFP's 19 turnovers especially in the fourth quarter. The Golden Eagles outscored the Huskies 23-6 in the final quarter. O'Connor finished with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists. She also recorded a steal in the game. Courtney Walker (Las Vegas, Nevada) added 14 points and four rebounds, while Haylie Anderson (Clearfield, Utah) and Ja'Kia Wells (Mesquite, Texas) finished 10 points apiece. Wells also had four rebounds and a team-high four blocks. She finished the game 5-of-8 from the field.

The Golden Eagles bench outscored AFP 38-1. Two Huskie players finished in double-figures. Grace Hess led the team with 23 points. Sophia Berardi finished with 15 points.

The Golden Eagles will have their home opener on Friday Nov. 9 vs. North Platte Community College.
