Kruthaupt Hit 17 points as Women’s Basketball Fall in Region IX First Round

TRINIDAD – Freshman Sarah Kruthaupt (Las Vegas, Nevada) had a magnificent performance on Friday evening as she scored 17 points and pulled down seven rebounds but Laramie County Community College fell 76-64 to Trinidad State Junior College.

The Golden Eagles season comes to end as they finish the year 15-16 overall. The Trojans advance to the Region IX Quarterfinals and improve to 15-13 overall.

Sophomore Caylin Arnold (Strasburg, Colorado) also helped lead the Golden Eagles overall scoring efforts with a 17 point performance, going 8-of-15 from the field. Madison Hamm (Fort Collins, Colorado) followed with 13 points. Both Arnold and Kruthaupt led with a team-high seven rebounds. Kruthaupt added four assists to her statline. Karli O'Brien (Rapid City, South Dakota) recorded three steals to lead the team.

Both Hamm and O'Brien followed up on the boards with four apiece.

The Golden Eagles shot 34.5 percent from the floor (20-58), 23.8 percent from the perimeter (5-21) and 76 percent from the free throw line (19-25).

TSJC was led by a 24-point effort from Mandie Perea. She was one of three Trojans to score in double-figures. Destinee Vigil added 13 points and Daniela Ortega had 12 points. As a team they shot 49.2 percent (32-65) from the floor and 23.5 percent (4-17) from beyond the arc.
