LAMAR – The Laramie County Community College women's basketball team fought in an aggressive loss on Wednesday, falling to Otero Junior College, 80-68.
The Golden Eagles losing streak is now at six as they drop to 14-15 overall and 5-8 in Region IX South. The Lopes now land at 15-14 overall and 6-7 in the Region IX South.
Freshman Karli O'Brien (Rapid City, Utah) and Sarah Kruthaupt (Las Vegas, Nevada) led the team with 13 points. Kyleigh Milan (Berthoud, Colorado) followed with 12 points while Courtney Walker (Las Vegas, Nevada) chipped in 10 points. O'Brien had a team-high nine rebounds and four assists. Darian Hale (Briggsdale, Colorado) also dished out four assists.
Milan and Madison Hamm (Fort Collins, Colorado) picked up a block apiece, while O'Brien led with three steals.
The Golden Eagles shot 34.4 percent from the field, 18.8 percent from three-point range and 70 percent from the free throw line. They also brought down 41 rebounds.
Lamar was led by a 21-point and 13 rebounds effort from Iva Belosevic. Kelyn Moses added another 20 points while Hannah Diaz put up 13 points.
The Lopes shot 39.1 percent from the field, 30.3 percent from the perimeter and 76.9 percent from the foul line. They also had the advantage on the boards with 43 rebounds.
The Golden Eagles will be back on the road for the final regular season game with a trip to Otero Junior College on Saturday. LCCC will tip-off at 2 p.m.
