Bernard Girard Leads LCCC Rodeo at Central Wyoming College Rodeo

RIVERTON, Wyo. – After getting their feet wet in their first two events, the Laramie County Community College men's and women's rodeo team traveled to Central Wyoming College to compete on September 27 and ending on September 29.

The men's team competed well and finished fourth on the weekend scoring a total of 450 points.

Bernard Girard (Alliance, Nebraska) had a strong showing on the weekend, winning the tie down roping, finishing third in the steer wrestling and gathering sixth in the team roping with Brock Belkham (Flandreau, South Dakota). Girard had the fastest time in the long go in the tie down roping with a time of 9.3 seconds and an overall time of 20.7 seconds. He had a time of 8.6 seconds in the steer wrestling. Girard currently sits second in the Central Rocky Mountain Region in the steer wrestling. Girard and Belkham had a time of 8.7 seconds in the long go and a no score in the short go.

Ian McGivney (Kaycee, Wyoming) finished third with a score of 146 on two rides in the saddle bronc riding. His long go score of 75 points was the highest in the long go. Former Golden Eagles Houston Brown won the saddle bronc event with a score of 155 on two rides. McGivney currently sits third in the Central Rocky Mountain Region standings.

In the break away roping event, Jaylee Simonson (Dunning, Nebraska) and Katie Kendrick (Mountain View, Wyoming) finished fourth and fifth. Simonson finished with a time of 7.3 on two runs, while Kendrick finished with a time of 8.5.

Both rodeo teams will be in action again on Oct. 4-6 as they travel to Lamar, Colo., to compete in the Lamar Community College Rodeo.
