Golden Eagles Men’s Rodeo Team Takes 2nd at CSU Rodeo

Fort Collins, CO – The Laramie County Community College rodeo teams competed in Fort Collins, Colorado at the Colorado State University Rodeo over the weekend. The men's team finished second and the women's team finished in fifth.

Rance Johnson had a big weekend winning the tie down roping event with an average of 19.3 on two runs. He had a 10.8 in the long go and 8.5 in the short go. Johnson also placed in the steer wrestling grabbing fifth with a time of 12.3 on two. Rance finished second overall in the all-around.

Houston Brown won the saddle bronc event with a score of 149 on two rides. A strong ride of 79 in the short go ignited him to the victory in the event. Bernard Girard was right behind Johnson in the tie down roping event coming in second with a time of 21.6 on two. Brown and Girard teamed up in the team roping and came in sixth with a long go time of 7.3 and a no score in the short go. Brown locked up sixth in the all-around and Girard was right behind him in seventh in the all-around.

Cord Roberts teamed up with Eastern Wyoming College rider Ty Chasek and nabbed fifth in the team roping event with a long go time of 6.7 and a no time in the short go. Ryan Shuckburgh finished eighth in the steer wrestling event with a time of 22.4 on two. Austin Hurlburt placed eighth in the tie down roping with a long go time of 11.0 and a no time in the short go.

Rance currently sits third in the Central Rocky Mountain Region standings in the tie down roping. Girard is in eighth in the region standings in the tie down roping. Brown sits eighth in the saddle bronc region standings after missing all of the fall due to an injury.

On the women's side, Sydney Graff, Cassidy March and Georgie Lage all placed in the break away roping. Graff came in third with a time of 8.0 on two runs. March was right behind her in fourth with a time of 14.3 on two runs. Lage finished 10th with a long go time of 3.2 and a no time in the short go. Graff currently sits 10th in the region standings.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action when they head to the Casper College Rodeo April 19-21.
