Rance Johnson Wins Tie Down Roping at Sheridan Rodeo

SHERIDAN, Wyoming – The Laramie County Community College rodeo tie down roper Rance Johnson is off to a blazing start in the 2018-19 rodeo season, sitting in second in the Central Rocky Mountain Regional Standings after winning last weekend's tie down Roping event at the Sheridan College Rodeo in Sheridan, Wyoming.

The Golden Eagles men's team seventh with 220 points, while women were third with 190 points. On the women's side Georgie Lage won the break away roping event with an average of 5.9 on two runs.

Johnson is currently third in the men's all-around with 165 points and fellow teammate Houston Brown is seventh in the all-around as he finished eighth in the saddle bronc riding and 10th in the team roping.

The Golden Eagles had three riders place in the top 10 in tie down roping, with Johnson winning the event on an average of 20.5, Cord Roberts in sixth with a time of 28.7 and Austin Hurlbert in 10th with a long-go time of 11.2.

Brown teamed up with Bernard Girard in the team roping and had a long-go time of 8.1 which was fifth in the long-go round but didn't score in the short-go.

The women's team are also making their presence known, with Lage first place finish, Sydney Adamson finished third and Morgan Darnell finished sixth. All placed in the break away roping. Adamson had an average of 6.9 while Darnell scored a time of 8.2.

The LCCC rodeo teams travel to Riverton, Wyoming this weekend for the Central Wyoming College Rodeo.
