Golden Eagles Roped in Points at EWC Rodeo

Torrington, WY – The Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles rodeo team competed in the Eastern Wyoming College rodeo this past weekend. The men's team finished 5th and the women's team took 6th over the weekend. The men currently sit 4th in the Central Rocky Mountain Region standings, while the women are 6th in the standings.

LCCC was led by Tate Mathis who placed 2nd in the Steer Wrestling with a time of 12.0 on two runs. He picked 110 points over the weekend and now moves him to 6th in the region standings. Mathis also came in 9th in the Tie-Down Roping with an average of 111.7 on two runs. Mathis sits in 9th overall in the region standings. Houston Brown also had a good performance as took 2nd in the Team Roping with Casper College's Logan Brown. Brown placed 7th in the Saddle Bronc with a long-go score of 78. He didn't compete in the short-go to an injury. Despite the injury Brown still currently sits 2nd in the Region standings.  

The women were led by Bailey Brown who finished 4th in the Break Away Roping with a time of 6.4 on two runs.

Austin Hurlburt leads the region standings in the Tie Down Roping with 510 points and racking up 110 points over the weekend.

Caydee Johnson currently is 7th in the Break Away Roping in the region standings.

  • Houston Brown teamed up with Casper College Logan Brown and gathered 2nd in the Team Roping with a time of 15.2 on two runs.
  • Austin Hurlburt finished 4th in the Tie Down Roping with a time of 22.1 on two runs.
  • Bailey Brown finished in 4th in the Break Away Roping with a time of 6.4 on two.
  • Houston Brown came in 7th in the Saddle Bronc with a long-go score of 78. He didn't compete in the short-go due to an injury.
  • Austin Hurlburt took 7th in the Steer Wrestling with a time of 17.2 on two runs.
  • Caydee Johnson came in 8th in the Goat Tying with an average of 17.6 on two.
  • Tate Mathis came in 9th in the Tie Down Roping with an average of 111.7 on two runs. His long-go time was 11.7.
