Steer wrestler Cameron Fanning made good use of the home arena advantage. He placed second in the first go-around with a 4.9-second run, and he backed it up on Sunday by winning the short go with a smoking 3.9-second run. With a total on two of 8.8, he won the average in commanding fashion.
Barrel racer Kynadee Beck also did well in the LCCC arena. She came in to the finals sitting in sixth place after her 16.40-second run in the long go, and she turned in a 16.60 in the short go for a 33.00-second total on two. That turned out to be just what she needed to squeeze into second place in the average. She also placed third in the short go.
Team ropers Brady Joseph and Doug Finney had a good run in finals in the team roping. The duo roped their long-go steer in 8.2 seconds, giving them ninth place in the go and a slot in the short go. On Sunday, they came in hot and roped their steer in 8.8 seconds. That was good enough for fourth place in the short go, but more importantly, it lifted them to fourth in the average, as well.
Megan Turek also qualified for the finals, but she had some tough luck in the goat tying. She had a ninth-place 7.8 in the long go, but she had some trouble with her tie on her goat in the short go. She turned in a 10.1 during the finals, earning ninth in the short go and ninth in the average with a 17.9 total on two.
The sixth LCCC team member to qualify for the finals also had a tough run. Lance Stevens had placed sixth in the long go of tie-down roping, but he missed his catch on his calf in the finals.
The rodeo team now has a long break. They'll be back in action in Gillette, Torrington, Casper, Fort Collins and Laramie in the spring.
