Golden Eagles Battle Back to Earn 2-2 Draw at Western Nebraska

Scottsbluff, Neb. – September 27, 2025

In a gritty Region IX matchup on the road, the Laramie County Community College men's soccer team fought back twice from behind to secure a 2–2 draw against Western Nebraska Community College on Saturday afternoon. Late heroics from Evan Perez ensured the Golden Eagles left Scottsbluff with a point.


First Half: Early Drama

The hosts struck first in just the 8th minute, when Pau Vera Montoya fired a shot from 18 yards to put Western Nebraska ahead 1–0.

The Golden Eagles answered quickly, as Darrien Gates II leveled the score in the 17th minute, breaking free on a 1v1 with the goalkeeper and finishing confidently.

Western Nebraska reclaimed the lead in the 24th minute, when Oscar Molina launched a stunning strike from 30 yards out, assisted by Mederique Eboucle. The Cougars carried a 2–1 advantage into halftime.


Second Half: Perez Delivers Late Equalizer

LCCC pushed hard for an equalizer after the break, controlling possession and testing goalkeeper Owen Henderson, who made eight saves to keep his side in front.

The breakthrough finally came in the 86th minute, when Evan Perez stepped up to take a penalty. Though his initial shot was saved, Perez reacted quickest to slot in the rebound, bringing the Golden Eagles level at 2–2.

Goalkeeper Joshua Faerber played his part at the other end, making five key saves to deny Western Nebraska and preserve the result.
