Three Goals in Each Half Pushes Men’s Soccer Past Western Nebraska

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – Freshman Manny Tapia (Longmont, Colorado) recorded his ninth and tenth goals of the season to help give the Laramie County Community College men's soccer team a 6-0 victory over Western Nebraska Community College on Friday in Region IX action.

Tapia got his first goal of the game in the 18th minute as he tapped in a cross from Christian Corniel (Provo, Utah) to make it 1-0 Golden Eagles. Corniel would make it 2-0 in the 30th minute on a shot from 25 yards out. Nathan Stitt (Torrington, Wyoming) scored in the 43rd minute on a follow up from Alexis Flores (Aurora, Colorado). The Golden Eagles led 3-0 at the half with the Golden Eagles outshooting the Cougars (6-5, 3-3) 20-3 in the first half.

LCCC extended the lead to 4-0 in the 60th minute with Noe Ortiz-Pena (Aurora, Colorado) striking from outside of the box. Corniel would get the credit on the assist. Nine minutes later, Tapia netted his second of the afternoon, putting home a pass from Bryan Vazquez (Denver, Colorado). Parker Longbottom (Cheyenne, Wyoming) headed in the final goal of the game in the 86th minute off a cross from Jaxon Bridge (Heber City, Utah) to make the final 6-0.

LCCC outshot the Cougars 27-7 in the game and 14-4 in shots on goal.

Declan Domyan (Johannesburg, South Africa) made four saves for his third clean sheet of the season. Ruam Barbosa had eight saves in the loss for Western Nebraska.

The Golden Eagles (8-3, 6-0 Region IX) will head to Sterling, Colorado next to face Northeastern Junior College tomorrow (Saturday). Action begins at 1 p.m.
