Seven Goals Lifts Golden Eagles in Win over Central CC

COLUMBUS – For the second straight game the Laramie County Community College men's soccer team scored in the first minute of the game and then tacked on six more to secure the win. LCCC won 7-1 on Saturday afternoon against Central Community College to improve to 7-3 on the season.

Noe Ortiz-Pena (Aurora, Colorado) put the Golden Eagles on top early with a goal in the 1st minute on a pass from Carlos Vargas (Heber City, Utah). Nine minutes later, LCCC's Manny Tapia (Longmont, Colorado) found the back of the net to double the lead. Cameron Broadhurst had the assist on Tapia's goal. In the 25th minute Broadhurst added to the lead with a header on a cross from Tapia. Ortiz-Pena scored his second of the game in the 28th minute on a pass from Vargas. Central's Jeremiah Vidale found the net on a penalty kick in the 39th minute for their lone goal.

Ortiz-Pena captured his hat trick in the 60th minute off a pass from Alexis Flores (Aurora, Colorado). Tapia would score his second of the game in the 65th minute off a pass from Ortiz-Pena. With under five minutes to play, Bryan Vazquez (Denver, Colorado) pushed the LCCC lead to six.

LCCC outshot Central 30-4 and 18-1 on shots on goal. Ortiz-Pena, Vazquez, Matt Wren (Welwyn, England) and Tapia led the Golden Eagles with four shots while Omar Castruita (Boulder, Colorado) added three. The Golden Eagles had Declan Domyan (Johannesburg, South Africa) in goal.

For the Raiders, Luis Tovar posted two shots.

LCCC continues Region IX play Friday, October 4th as they travel to Western Nebraska Community College.
