Men’s Soccer Downs #9 Snow College in 2-1 Win

CHEYENNE, WY – Laramie County Community College men's soccer (1-0) knocked off #9 Snow College (0-1) in a 2-1 battle to open the regular season at LCCC Soccer Field.

Laramie County will now face (RV) Cloud County Community College on Sunday, Aug. 25 at 12 p.m. at home.

LCCC and Snow battled on both ends of the field with LCCC having the edge on shots on goal 9-3.

Snow got on the board first in the 24th minute on a strike when Kade Jorgonsen took advantage of a pass by teammate Harei Maeda and gave SC the 1-0 lead. Snow would take the 1-0 edge into the half.

Six minutes into the second half, Omar Castruita (Boulder, Colorado) took a perfect ball from Carlos Vargas (Heber City, Utah) and fired in a beautiful shot in the net for his first goal of the season and drew scored leveled at 1-1.  

The Golden Eagles weren't done yet, as Castruita took the Nathan Stitt (Torrington, Wyoming) feed into the box and slipped the shot passed the Badger goalkeeper to take a 2-1 advantage. Snow would pressure late but the Golden Eagles held on for the win.

Tanner Riedel (Laramie, Wyoming) recorded the win in goal and made two saves in the match.
