CHEYENNE – The Laramie County Community College men's soccer program received an award on Friday from United Soccer Coaches. Golden Eagles head coach Vince Gibson and assistants Jose Arenas, Brian Longbottom and Kay Olivas were named the United Soccer Coaches Junior College Men's North Region Staff of the Year.
The coaches led the Golden Eagles to their second Region IX Championship in three years and coach Gibson's fourth Region IX Championship. The Golden Eagles in total have seven Region IX Championships. Under the direction of coach Gibson, the Golden Eagles had seven players earn All-Region honors and three earn United Soccer Coaches All-West honors.
The Golden Eagles finished the year 8-7-1 capturing the Region IX Championship with a 2-0 win over Sheridan College. LCCC fell to #1 Pima Community College 3-0 at the West District Championships.
