Seven Golden Eagles Earn All-Region North Awards

CHEYENNE, Wyoming – The Laramie County Community College men's soccer team earned seven All-Region IX North selections as the league released its postseason honors on Tuesday.

Sophomore Ricardo Vazquez (Denver, Colorado) was tabbed as a First-Team All-Region North honoree and was also named the Region IX Co-Most Valuable Player. He shares the honor with Gillette College Cheslon Carollisen. Fellow sophomore Quinn Hunt (Cheyenne, Wyoming) was named to the First-Team as well. Freshman Cameron Broadhurst (Broomfield, Colorado), Chayce Willett (Cheyenne, Wyoming) and Brady Mangel (Thornton, Colorado) were named to the 2018 Region IX North First Team. Broadhurst was named as the Region IX North Freshman of the Year. Dalton Young (Gillette, Wyoming) and Raul Magno (Boulder, Colorado) earned Second-Team All-Region IX North Team.

Vazquez, forward and midfielder for the Golden Eagles played in all 16 matches and started in 15 for LCCC. In the attack, he scored four goals and had two assists on the year. In two seasons, he scored nine goals and dished out five assists.

Hunt and Willett started all 16 matches for the Golden Eagles as center backs. Both were vital pieces for the Golden Eagles in recording two shutouts in the Region IX Tournament. Broadhurst started in the midfield for LCCC and scored four goals and had four assists. He led the Golden Eagles with 12 points. Mangel started in all 16 matches in goal for LCCC and recorded 72 saves on the year.

Young, scored two goals and had an assists for LCCC, while Magno recorded four assists and a goal this season.

Golden Eagles captured the Region IX Championship and fell to #1 Pima Community College 3-0 in Tucson at the West District Semi-final.
