Golden Eagles fall 1-0 to #18 Northeastern JC

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – A goal in the 62nd minute from Jean Carre proved to be all the offense the Northeastern Junior College men's soccer team needed as the Plainsmen defeated the Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles 1-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 25.

Carre delivered what proved to be a game-winning goal by getting in behind the backline and touching the ball around the goal keeper. Arthur Prunis recorded the assist on the play.

The Plainsmen finished the evening registering a 16-14 advantage in shots, but both teams put eight shots on goal. Freshman Matt Wren (Welwyn, England) paced Laramie County's offensive attack with a team-high six shots, while Ricardo Vazquez (Denver, Colorado) and Waseem Jimenez (Windsor, Colorado) recorded two shots apiece for LCCC.

Goalkeeper Brady Mangel (Thornton, Colorado) earned the start for LCCC and made seven saves in the loss. Luc Denisselle posted eight stops in net for the Plainsmen.

The Golden Eagles two good chances in each half as Wren got in behind the defense in the first half and put his shot wide and Sagar Bhattarai (Twin Falls, Idaho) had a header saved by Denisselle in the second half.

The Golden Eagles return to action traveling to Rock Springs, Wy., for a 12:30 p.m. showdown at WWCC on Oct. 3rd.
