Men’s Soccer Defeat Western Wyoming

CHEYENNE, Wyoming – The Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles took an exciting win over Region IX North opponent Western Wyoming Community College with the final score 3-1.

The Golden Eagles got their first goal about midway through the first half as Dalton Young (Gillette, Wyoming) scored in the 21st minute on low shot to the far post. Tommy Swainson (Cheyenne, Wyoming) recorded the assists. LCCC took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Not long into the second half Cameron Broadhurst (Broomfield, Colorado) scored the second goal for the Golden Eagles, assisted by Matt Wren (Welwyn, England) in the 53rd minute. Western Wyoming cut the lead in half in the 71st minute on a free kick goal by Beamer Wilcken. LCCC doubled the lead in the 81st minute on a goal by Ricardo Vazquez (Denver, Colorado) off a cross by Broadhurst.

With 12 shots taken by the Mustangs, Brady Mangel (Thornton, Colorado) had a total of four saves for the Golden Eagles. Offensively the Golden Eagles had a total of 29 shots with 14 shots on goal with Mustangs goalkeeper Joe Vehaus making 11 saves.

Opening the Region IX North with a win, the Golden Eagles are now 2-2 overall and 1-0 in Region IX North play. The Golden Eagles will play their next match on the road against Northwest College in Powell on Saturday, Sept. 15th.
