CHEYENNE, Wyoming – The Laramie County Community College men's soccer team faced a 2-0 deficit at halftime, but got a goal back in the second half and pressured the Trappers throughout the period. However, the Golden Eagles eventually fell short to Northwest College, 2-1 on the road.
The Trappers outshot the Golden Eagles 13-10 on the afternoon but the Golden Eagles had an 8-6 advantage in shots on goal. Laramie County also led 2-1 on corner kicks.
It was all Trappers in the first half as they scored goals at the 13th and 37th minute. Ryan Tyrer connected on the first goal on a penalty kick while Jay Younger tapped in a shot to push the lead out to two.
Laramie County came out aggressive in the second half, looking to cut the lead down in half. LCCC was able to get themselves back into the match in the 72nd minute as a free kick from sophomore goalkeeper Angel Alvarez (Las Vegas, Nevada) found the head of Aaron Barber (Cheyenne, Wyoming) in the box and headed it home to cut the deficit to one.
LCCC was aggressive throughout the rest of the second half, but could not find an equalizer as they eventually fell by the one goal margin.
Ricardo Vazquez (Denver, Colorado) led the attack with three shots while sophomore Jacob Alvarez (Las Vegas, Nevada) came off the bench with two shots. Alvarez picked up four saves in the match.
Laramie County will return to action on Wednesday as they welcome in Gillette College in Region IX action at 1:30 P.M.
