LCCC Draws with Sheridan College

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Sparked by a goal from freshman Ricardo Vazquez (Denver, Colorado) the Laramie County Community College men's soccer team was able to hold on for a 1-1 draw against Sheridan College on Saturday, Sept. 23.

The draw pushes the Golden Eagles to 1-8-1 on the campaign, while the Generals move to 2-0-2.

After a scoreless first half, Vazquez got the goal in the 78th minute off an assist from freshman Andres Santana (Las Vegas, Nevada) to give LCCC a 1-0 lead. The assist was Santana's first of the season. Francisco Pacheco leveled the game up in the 80th minute after collecting a bad out of the Golden Eagle back line.

Laramie County outshot the Generals 28-12 in the match, including posting a 7-4 margin in shots on goal.

Vazquez directed the Golden Eagles efforts with seven shots, while Eddie Mercado (Las Vegas, Nevada) recorded six shots.

Sophomore goalkeeper Angel Alvarez (Las Vegas, Nevada) registered five saves for LCCC.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Sept. 27 as LCCC travels to La Junta, Colorado for a showdown with Otero Junior College. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. MT.
