Gillette, WY – Three second half goals helped the Golden Eagles men's soccer team to a 3-1 Region IX win over Gillette College Wednesday.

LCCC (1-8, 1-2), which posted a 20-14 advantage in shots, picked up its first win of the year.

Eddie Mercado (Las Vegas, Nevada) opened the afternoon's scoring with a goal in the 65^th minute as Aaron Barber (Cheyenne, Wyoming) tapped a ball to him. The goal is Mercado's second on the season. Blake Mathews (Fort Collins, Colorado) made it 2-0 in the 72^nd minute after scoring off a corner kick. Six minutes later, Ricardo Vazquez (Denver, Colorado) finished off a cross from Dalton Young (Gillette, Wyoming) to tack on the third goal.

The navy and gold were then recipients of a poorly cleared ball that found its way to a Donovan Odier who got Gillette on the board in the 87^th minute.

Angel Alvarez (Las Vegas, Nevada) tallied six saves in the match.

Laramie County will be at home on Saturday as they host Sheridan College in Region IX action at 1:30 p.m.
